Il Colonnato Dining Table by Mario Bellini, Italy
Architectural dining table designed by Mario Bellini, model Il Colonnato, crafted in richly textured orange travertine. The square tabletop rests on four substantial cylindrical columns, creating a distinctive composition inspired by classical Italian architecture.
The warm terracotta and rust-coloured tones of the natural stone reveal subtle variations in colour, veining and texture. The broad tabletop has a refined, understated profile that contrasts with the monumental character of the supporting columns.
Bellini's design explores the relationship between traditional architectural references and modern furniture, transforming a functional dining table into a sculptural centre piece. The natural travertine brings warmth and material richness, while the open space between the columns gives the substantial construction a lighter visual presence.
Designed to be appreciated from every angle, the table works particularly well in an open dining area, where its architectural character and distinctive material can be fully appreciated.
A characteristic example of Italian design, combining the expressive qualities of natural stone with Mario Bellini's architectural approach to furniture. In general good vintage condition. The set of dining chairs are sold separately.
Dimensions; 140 × 140 × 73 cm
