Kimba Modular Four-Seat Sofa, Ligne Roset, France, 1973
Rare and beautifully sculptural four-seat 'Kimba' modular sofa, designed by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset in 1973.
Created during the same period as Ducaroy's iconic Togo collection, the Simba reflects his innovative approach to informal seating, combining generous proportions, a low-slung silhouette and distinctive quilted upholstery.
This composition consists of four individual elements, including two corner modules and two central seats, together forming a spacious and inviting four-seater sofa. Its modular construction allows for different configurations, offering versatility while maintaining the characteristic soft, architectural appearance of the design.
The entire set has been professionally reupholstered in a beautiful, soft ochre textile, enhancing its rounded forms, deep tufting and relaxed character. The warm, earthy colour brings a timeless elegance to this distinctive example of 1970s French furniture design.
An exceptionally rare and collectible modular seating arrangement, combining sculptural presence, comfort and functionality. The sofa is presented in good vintage condition following its professional restoration, retaining its original manufacturer's label and original underside fabric.
