ON HOLD - Fire Screen by Jean Touret for Les Artisans de Marolles, France, 1950s

€1,950.00

Rare and highly decorative wrought iron fire screen designed by Jean Touret (1916–2004) for Les Artisans de Marolles, France, circa 1950.

Executed in black patinated steel, the piece features a beautifully balanced geometric grid composition populated with stylized animal figures including horses, birds and other pastoral forms. The handcrafted silhouettes and rhythmic arrangement perfectly reflect the poetic and artisanal character for which Touret and Les Artisans de Marolles became renowned.

The combination of strong architectural lines and playful primitive-inspired animal motifs gives the screen a sculptural presence that transcends pure functionality. The finely textured black patina enhances the depth and handcrafted quality of the forged metalwork, while the open grid construction creates a subtle interplay of light and shadow.

A rare example of French mid-century artisanal ironwork, combining rustic modernism, folk influences and sculptural elegance.
